Presidents Message

2011 -2012

Welcome to the Kansas Bankers Association Trust Division website.  This website was created by the Board of Directors of the KBA Trust Division for the benefit and use of our members.

Our Trust Division is made up of banks and trust companies offering trust and related services throughout the state of Kansas.  We are committed to providing members with the tools they need to stay on the forefront of the trust industry and provide the best service possible for their customers.  Whether it is legislation, regulations, investment strategy, technology, or staff education, we will work to help keep you informed of the most recent developments.

Please take a moment to view our website to see how we can serve your needs.  We encourage your input.  Please feel free to contact me, or any other board member, with any questions, concerns, or ideas of how we can improve this website and better serve our members.

One of our most important activities is the planning and organization of the annual Trust Conference, held in the fall of each year.  This year the conference will be held at the Capitol Plaza Hotel in Topeka on October 13th and 14th.  We are putting together an exciting and informative program of respected professionals that will give you and your staff the latest information on key issues facing the trust industry.  Additionally, you will have ample time to visit informally with other trust professionals.  The conference is generously supported by numerous vendors serving the trust industry, who will also be present to advise you of the latest developments and new services that may be made available to our customers.

We hope you will be able to join us in October.  This year’s conference has several fresh topics which should be of interest to all departments.  First, is a discussion on the changes taking place in South Dakota law enabling the use of dynasty trusts; Second is the process for converting discretionary trusts to unitrusts; and Third, is a discussion of tracking and securing E-assets.

In the mean time, we encourage you to become an active member of the Trust Division and to use this site to communicate with other trust professionals when you have a question or concern that you would like to “bounce off” a fellow professional.

Again, we welcome you to the Kansas Bankers Association Trust Division and we appreciate your support.
